How the Summer Reading Program Works:

Get Registered:

Registering for the Summer Reading Program is easy!  Bring your library card to any of the six South Georgia Regional Library branches and fill out a registration form.  You will then be given a bag containing a reading log, incentive card, bookmark, and coupons.

Tickets:

Tickets give you chances to win one of our great branch and system-wide prizes.  The more you read, the better your odds of winning.  Attached to every reading log you will find a blank ticket, once you have completed your log fill out the ticket and bring your reading log back to the library.  A staff member will pull the ticket off the top of your log and place it inside the drawing container.   Please do not detach the ticket from the log, as this will make them void.

Prize Drawings:

Prize winners will be selected during the Summer Celebration event on July 31st.  If you are not present at the drawing you will be contacted via the information on the ticket.  For this reason, please make sure that all information on the ticket is legible and accurate.

Deadline:

All logs must be turned in to one of the branches by closing on July 23rd.  No late logs will be accepted.

Patron Q&A:

If I win at the branch level, am I still eligible for the system-wide prize?
Yes, you may win both the branch and system prize.

Do I need to register at each branch in order to attend programming there?
No, you may attend programming at any of the six branches in the South Georgia Regional Library system.

How many incentive prizes can I get?
You may receive up to five incentive prizes this summer.  When you sign up for the Summer Reading Program you will be given an incentive card.  This card must be punched when you turn in a log to get your prize.  Once there are five punches in your card you have reached the maximum number of incentives you can earn during the summer.  That doesn’t mean you have to stop reading!  You can still earn more tickets for the prize drawing.

How many chances can I get to enter the prize drawings?
There is no maximum number of entries.  The more you read, the better your odds of winning!

What if I lose my Incentive Card?
You are responsible for keeping track of your incentive card; no replacement incentive cards will be issued.  If you lose your card you can still earn tickets for the prize drawing but will not receive the small trinkets earned for the first five reading logs turned in.

Should I take the ticket off my log myself?
No.  Only a library employee may remove the ticket from the bottom of the log.  No “loose” tickets will be accepted.

Does online reading count i.e. a newspaper or magazine website?
Yes.

Do books on tape/CD count?
Yes.

What do I get for being the person who reads the most?
There is no prize for reading the most, but the more you read the more entries you will have in the drawing.

Do I have to register for the Summer Reading Program to attend events?
No, registration is not required.  Prizes, however, will only be given to those enrolled in the program.

Do I have to read material from the library?
No.  You are welcome to purchase literature or read material you already have at home.

My child lives out of state but is visiting for the summer, may she/he participate in the Summer Reading Program?
Yes.  Out of state children/grandchildren may be registered for the program under their parent/guardian’s card.

Do I have to have a PINES card to register for the SRP?
Yes.

How do I get tickets?
Tickets are earned for every reading log you complete.

Are preschool/daycare classes welcomed to attend library programming this summer?
Space is limited for many of our summer programs, so we advise you call your local library to schedule an event specifically for your group.  Special arrangements can be made to accommodate large groups of children.

When does early registration begin?
You may begin registering for the Summer Reading Program at your local library on Monday, May 17th.

When is the first day to turn in logs?
Tuesday, June 1st.

When is the last day to turn in logs?
All logs must be turned in by closing on July 23rd. No late logs will be accepted.
